The city located in the Central Bohemia region, approximately 50 km northeast of Prague, is known primarily for the Skoda automobile company, which has its headquarters and largest production plant here.
In 1995, on the occasion of the company's centenary, the SKODA Museum was opened here, which offers visitors a tour of a unique collection of Laurin & Klement and Skoda cars.
It will introduce you not only to the history of the company, but also allow you to look into the prototype depository and take you on an excursion to the training center and current production facilities.
On the Old Town Square in Mlada Boleslav stands the Mladoboleslav Castle.
Already in the 10th century there was a castle on the site of today's castle, and in the 14th century a stone castle was built here.
In the middle of the 16th century, the castle was rebuilt into a Renaissance residence, in the 18th century there was a barracks, and during the Second World War it was even an internment center for Jews. Today, the castle is owned by the state, has been reconstructed and is open to the public.
Today, visitors can visit the Museum of Mladoboleslavska and its collections at the castle. The exhibition "Memory of the City" is devoted to the history of Mladá Boleslav in the period from the 18th to the beginning of the 20th century, as part of the exhibition "Village in the Changes of Time", interested parties can view, among other things, folk costumes, rural interior and get to know small small-town and rural businesses.
Throughout the year, the museum hosts a number of short-term exhibitions and events.
In the center of Mlada Boleslav , the historic building of the old town hall with an observation tower stands on Staroměstské náměstí.
The magnificent Renaissance town hall was built by an Italian architect in the middle of the 16th century, but in addition to a beautiful sgraffito facade and a wonderful interior with a stucco ceiling, visitors can also look forward to beautiful views.
They will open to them after climbing the 32-meter high baroque tower, which was added to the town hall in the 18th century.
From the walkway with binoculars, it is possible to admire the sights of Mladá Boleslav and the surroundings of the city.
Loucen Castle is a romantic baroque monument with original interiors. It is surrounded by a vast English park, which is enriched with one pan-European unique, namely a set of 12 labyrinths and mazes.
Here you will experience regular and non-traditional tours of the castle with a costumed character. Picnics in the castle park, as well as competitions and programs about castle festivities, are popular.
The Škoda Museum (Czech: Škoda Muzeum) is a museum in Mladá Boleslav in the Czech Republic. It presents the history of the automobile manufacturer Škoda Auto (known until 1925 as Laurin & Klement), which is one of just four automakers in the world which has an unbroken history stretching back to 1895.
It is located next to a large production facility.
The museum was opened in 1995, to the centenary of the company's founding. A remodeled museum was opened in Autumn 2012. It is located in the former factory building of Škoda Auto where cars were manufactured until 1928.
